Monday Music Monkey Review

Hello my bitches I am back and I stocked up on some awesome new music so today I will be reviewing the new Jason Mraz album 'Love is a four letter word'. a follow up to his first album “We sing, we dance, we steal things” which I reviewed a while ago (see link here;  http://www.bitterandtwistedcomics.com/2/post/2012/09/monday-music-monkey-review8.html Look I am a huge fan of his music and his philosophy on life he has a real laid back approach to life that is seriously addictive. I must say when I first listened to the album I was a bit like "what the fuck?" his normally fun wordplay and risque lyrics weren't there but on listening to it again the lyrics are simply superb.  The album opens with “The Freedom Song,” a cover and I must say a first Jason Mraz (it was written by Luc Reynaud of Luc & the Lovingtons during the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina). This track is so and so feel good that it makes this little monkey want to dance (you feelin' me chicky-babes). The next track 'Living In The Moment' is a stand-out and with lyrics like “Wherever I’m going, I’m already home / Living in the moment.” from it's whistling intro to it's reggae beat it's a killer. 'The Woman I Love' is the next track and it's absolutely beautiful track, guitar is awesome, the lyrics are incredible. (now for me to find a woman I love).This song will be a massive hit with the ladies so if you have a date planned, get this song on! 'I Won t Give Up' is the next track and it starts off slow and builds up it's a pretty emotional song and the closest to his previous album, the lyrics are first class. The next track  '5/6' is a cool kind of jazzy track still seriously cool though, we then move onto 'Everything is Sound (La La La)' is Jason Mraz at his best, catchy chorus, cool music and his seriously cool lyrics, definately a winner and a highlight on the album. '93 Million Miles' is the next track starts slow and builds to a soft rock kind of song still cool it leads into the next track 'Frank D Fixer' really well for some bizarre reason, this is a cool song and when you listen to the lyrics Frank is something more men should aspire to be.  The next song 'Who’s Thinking About You Now?' is a cool song again Mraz's song-writing is world class the lyrics are really cool and it's a song that only Jason Mraz can sing. The next song 'In Your Hands' is just beautiful, seriously a beautiful song and one of the best on the whole album, Jason Mraz at his best. Then, we get that sound that Mraz is famous for on this song 'Be Honest' . The last track is 'The World As I See It'  which is a great album to finish what is an outstanding album, chock full of Mraz’s upbeat music, intelligent lyrics, wonderful vocals all up this is a great album and will put you in a great mood. Easy to hit replay on this album, which is always a sign of a great album. The music on this album is brilliant, Jason Mraz is shows again that he is a great song writer and a talented musician. So all up this is a worthy addition to anyone’s collection and I am giving it 4 & 1/2 shots of whisky! Hello my bitches, today I will be reviewing one of my guilty pleasures yes, I am a Spice Girls fan monkey. I know what the hell is this little monkey on, but you know what fuck it I have always liked them so today I will be reviewing the album that started it all for me ( I still have the Spice Girls mug, figurines, pencil case, ruler etc) I think I may need help! Anyway the first album Spice was launched way back when I was but a shy little monkey (it was 1996 when they exploded on the airwaves and I was hooked), rushing to get my hands on their first album which starts of with the debut track 'Wannabe' which is a kick ass song which has rapping, catchy lyrics and such a great pop vibe it is just an awesome song, although I still to this day don't know what a ziga-zig ahh is The next song 'Say You'll Be There' is a bit of a slower track and the second single off the album it has the girl power lyrics and I always loved how every girl got a part in the song unlike the Pussycat Dolls (see my review here   http://www.bitterandtwistedcomics.com/2/post/2013/03/monday-music-monkey-review30.html) this is just another really fun song.  The next track '2 Become 1' is a ballad and a great one at that it really showcases their singing abilities and they certainly could sing and with their sexy outfits and names Emma (Baby Spice), Mel C (Sporty Spice), Victoria (Posh Spice), Geri (Ginger Spice), and Mel B (Scary Spice) this is an awesome love song.  We then move onto the song 'Love Thing' which has more of a disco sound but is very much a spice girls sound. The rapping the girls do in this song is great. We then move onto 'Last Time Lover' which is a really sexy song especially Mel B's vocals in this song a the beat and guitars make this a highlight of this album  'Mama' is the next track and it is an emotional song about their mums' aww, it's so sweet without being sickening and it does have some beautiful string sections and it becomes a great ballad. It also shows of an emotional side to the Spice Girls which just adds to their appeal. 'Who Do You Think You Are' was the next track and it is awesome, upbeat, with a cool disco beat and really quick fire yet fun lyrics, an awesome song. We then move onto 'Something Kinda Funny' has a more jazzy feel to the rest of the songs, very sexy vocals, catchy lyrics this song is an absolute cracker of a song and one of my favourites. Then we move onto one of the stand out tracks on the album, 'Naked' (and who didn't dream of seeing them all naked! I sure did when I was a little monkey, yes it was a great dream, which spice shall I have naked tonight anyway I digress). this song had a real maturity do it, it had a sexy, jazzy vibe to it and the Spice Girls sound great on this track which makes it even better. The lyrics on this track are awesome as well, just pure awesome! The last track is  'If U Can't Dance' and it finishes what is a stand out debut album with great instruments, fantastic lyrics and great rapping by Scary Spice (Mel B. and Ginger Spice (Geri), a great high to finish a great album on. I am giving this 5 shots of whiskey out of 5, it is a killer album by five babes who brought sexy back to music, who defined girl power and spawned a million copy cats, who brought pop back from obscurity. Five sassy-sexy girls who made music fun again. If you haven't heard of them, get out from whatever cave you have been living in and take a trip to pop heaven with this album. Monday Music Monkey Review

Hello my bitches!, I am back, I had last week off because, well I just couldn't be fucked! I didn't feel like writing anything so up yours Redi!
So today I will be reviewing an album that I hold very dear to me it is the one and only Radiohead and their debut album - Pablo Honey. let's get into it shall we?
Pablo Honey was released in 1993 when I was just a wee monkey clinging to my mum's back. Till that filthy bitch Redi decided he wanted a pet monkey like Micheal Jackson (damn you Redi and you too Bubbles I was going to be MJ's pet till you did that fucking moonwalk!) anyway I digress.

This album is an absolute killer with the first track being the awesome 'You' it's a great opener with an awesome opening riff and Thom's great voice also the guitar is awesome.

Then we move onto 'Creep' which is an excellent song, very heartfelt and the way I used to feel all them years ago, before I grew major chest hairs and became a love god. It's a dirty song, with dirty guitar sound just pure Radiohead genius.the next song is 'How Do You?' which sounds so British but is a real grungy sounding song my only problem is that it's too short. 

We move onto the track 'Stop Whispering' I love this song and rate it one of the best songs on the album it has great music and guitar but, Thom's voice in this is amazing so passionate what a truly gifted singer he is. The next track is 'Thinking About You' which is an acoustic track with some electric guitar but yet again Thom's voice steals the whole song.just awesome and brilliant.

'Anyone Can Play Guitar' is the next track and with it's feedback start it is an awesome song, I love the whole grungy feel this song has. we follow this song up with 'Ripcord' a cool song and yet again that voice is just so perfect.'Vegetable' is the next track and it is a really catchy song that gets inside your head and it does have a really cool guitar solo - whatever happened to guitar solo's? They just don't do them in this day and age.

We then move onto the track 'Prove Yourself'  it is another cool song with that real wall of sound that only Radiohead can do and that drumbeat is kick-ass. The next song is 'I Can't' it has a seriously cool intro and I think it's cool has a pub rock feel to it, I think you need to be pissed in a pub to enjoy it to it's full potential. 

'Lurgee' is the next song and it is a great song with great lyrics and great guitar and Thom's voice is great as per usual. We then move onto the last song 'Blow Out' which is cool song to end on it does seem different to all the other songs which makes it so cool.

All up I give this 5 shots of whiskey out of 5. Only Radiohead could pull off one of the greatest debut albums ever! This set the benchmark really high for them and the just seemed to get better and better with each album. What's up my bitches! Today I will be reviewing the one only only awesomeness that is "Regurgitator" this boys kick ass and this album should be in your collection! Yes the album known as "Unit". I crowd surfed to this guys and it was unreal, except the next day when I woke up and my back was so sore from all the hands pushing on your back. Man the only back pain I enjoy is 'Shaggers Back", anyway onto the album. Unit kicks of with the song 'I Like Your Old Stuff Better Than Your New Stuff' and never has a song been so true, I mean I love the Stone's old stuff, their new stuff no way I mean geriatrics singing about rooting chicks! really I don't think so. This song is kick ass with it's syth and electronica sound, seriously cool. We then move onto 'Everyday Formula' which is way cool and then we move onto one of my favourite songs on the album '!* (Song Formerly Known As)' it has such great beat, dirty riff and the lyrics are genius “I don't go to parties baby Coz’ people tend to freak me out Watch their lips you can work it out I can hear the words but I still don't know what it's all about" The next song I can totally relate to 'Black Bugs' a song about video games, man I know that feeling, last level, no lives left and one boss to beat! PURE FUCKING AWESOME song and so true! 'World Of Sleaze' is the next song and from it's slow start it's building up and the lyrics are unreal, who else can sing about dicks and cunts and make it sound cool. The next song is 'I Piss Alone' a really funny song that starts slow and builds to this solid wall of sound, grungy and seriously kick ass song. Then we move onto the title track 'Unit' which is a short electronica song really cool the way it builds. Then we move onto quite possibly the best song on the album 'I Will Lick Your Asshole' what a killer name for a song (hey, Redi come here my asshole needs a clean you bitch, that's it, now lick it good!). Killer song from start to finish. The comes the hugely popular song about 'Modern Life' and our mass consumer life that we live, cool music (great drum beat) and awesome lyrics as well. 'Polyestergirl' is the next track and doesn't everybody want one of those, no bullshit just sex. The track has a really cool electronic sound and awesomely funny lyrics.I guess it's not far off with all the plastic girls around today. Then we move onto the wall of sound that is '1234' a cool song that you can imagine them mucking around in the flea and rat infested studio on this song. Then we move onto 'Mr T' a slower track but still way cool. the last song is 'Just Another Beautiful Story' with it's awesome electronic intro and cool riff it is a great way to end a true classic album, way ahead of it's time, but time has proved them right, this album is still as good as it was when it was released back in 1997. Do yourself a favour and get this album I give it 4 and a half shots of whiskey out of five (the 5 shots are for their live performance they kick ass). Till next week Peace out my bitches!

Hello my bitches, I trust you had a good weekend I sure did! Nice and relaxing watching the ashes and sinking a few. Nice to see an exciting game of cricket. Now today I will be reviewing the next installment of the epic 'Lorde' and her brand new ep 'Tennis Court' As I mentioned in last week's review of her first ep 'The Love Club' she is one majorly talented singer who creates this amazing works of art both musically and lyrically. Let's get into it shall we? The first track on the album and also the debut single and title track is 'Tennis Court'. This is a great first song, with it's insanely addictive lyrics (similar to 'Royals'), synthesizer and awesome beat make this an absolute gem of a song (and the "yeahs" will definately get stuck in your head). The next track is 'Swingin Party', now that's what i am talking about, nothing beats an awesome party and Jesus will provide the chips, the beer and the girls, yeah. Anyway back to the track. This is a more mellow affair and it starts with a drum beat and her voice kicks in and it rocks, it sounds so mature for someone so young and it really does show she is the real deal! The next track is the darker 'Biting Down' that I covered last week. Then the album ends with quite possibly her best vocal performance so far on the track 'Bravado'. The back vocals add to the haunting and epic sound of this song, do yourself a favour and get this album, it has been on serious heavy rotation in my monkey cave! Now when are you releasing a full album! I am giving this 5 shots of whiskey out of 5. Check it out and buy the album as the world needs more artists of this calibre! Hello my bitches, apologies for the week off - I needed a break, that's what alcohol poisoning does to you, thank god my liver is back to normal (remember your liver is evil and must be punished).
Now today I will be reviewing one kick-ass kiwi chick - Lorde (or her real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor who hails from my mate Jason Te Puia's old stomping ground Auckland NZ) and her E.P. - 'The Love Club'. I am so excited that she has a new album coming out later on this month that I am about to flick poo at the walls (yes you heard me Redi, now clean it bitch!).

Man what is it with kiwi chicks, they are so talented and so arty at the same time think Kimbra, Ladyhawke, Bic Runga, Brooke Fraser etc. Man I don't don't know what is in their water over there but they keep producing these beautiful and talented singers, I think this little monkey is due for a trip to NZ.

This is her debut album called 'The Love Club' and it is awesome. The EP kicks off with beautiful song 'Bravado' the music is beautiful and her voice is divine and just so hauntingly beautiful. The next track is my favourite, it grew on me, then when you realise that the lyrics are about anti-consumerism, then when you see the film clip, this song is legendary, it will be a classic and her voice is perfect!

The next song "Million Dollar Bills' is a bit more upbeat with killer beat and her awesome voice it is just such a cool hip-hop song and has such a happy vibe about it, I absolutely love it. The next song is the title track 'The Love Club' it has such great lyrics and shows her versatility and talent just a really cool song.

Then we move onto the darker 'Biting Down' with it's killer hi-hat and great vocals, it closes out a sensational album. I honestly can't wait for her new album, and at 16 years of age she is only going to get better. I give this 5 shots of whiskey out of 5, seriously it is that good so do yourself a favour and add it to your collection NOW!

What's up my bitches, I am in a good mood today, had an awesome weekend with my lady friend so I thought I would review the best punk rock, in your face fucking album ever - The Sex Pistols- Never Mind The Bollocks. This album is a classic and if it's not in your collection then give yourself an uppercut, it is an absolute gem of an album and is still relevant today as it was back then (1977). This album represents everything that was wrong with the Uk back in the late 70's (Queen's jubilee, everyone caught up in national patriotic fervour while all the problems of government interference, police, big business shit on us and yet we are distracted by menial bullshit that the media feeds us!) and yes it is still wrong today. The album opens with 'Holidays In The Sun' and what a song, brutal guitar, snarling singing and great lyrics with its Nazi rally opening and a swipe at middle class tourists in its first line: ‘A cheap holiday in other people’s misery’ it's all about distractions that take us away from the realities of life. The next song 'Bodies' has all the hallmarks of a classic punk song, lots of swearing and full-on music and lyrics like this - “Die little baby screaming! Body screaming f*cking bloody mess! Not an animal, it's an abortion! Body! I'm not animal! Mummy I'm not an abortion.” fan fucking tastic a song about abortion -WTF!.  The next song is ,'No Feelings' a song about people's escapism and praying to God or higher powers as if that would somehow fix all the problems. The next song is 'Liar' a song about politicians and their manager is a aural explosion. Then we move onto the classic and their most famous song 'God Save The Queen' the driving music and the vile and hate filled lyrics are an anthem to all the poverty stricken people who struggle whilst the rulers eat and sleep in luxury - "God save the Queen and her fascist regime" is an anthem for all those people living in the UK at the time of economic chaos, social disarray, and other issues like mass immigration, welfare dependency, terrorism, cold war paranoia and high unemployment, it's no wonder that this song along with 'Anarchy in The UK' became a call to arms for the youth in the UK who really faced no future. The song led to the government rigging the charts to stop it getting to number 1, they also charged record stores that displayed this album for indecency what a fucking joke. 'Problems' is the next song is awesome again that grinding noise filled music and really insightful lyrics make this song a ripper. 'Seventeen' is the next song about being lazy and having no purpose, (you hear that Redi, no purpose, just like you, you waste of sperm!) Next is 'Anarchy In The UK' what a fucking awesome song, fuck it, let's just do whatever the fuck we feel like and from the opening lyrics "I am an anti-Christ/I am an anarchist" we see the raw talent and power of this punk rock group. Loud go for the throat music make this one of my all time favourite songs - it makes me want to go out and destroy! The next song 'Submission' is one of the fun songs on the album, they wrote it after their manager wanted them to do a song about bondage - so to fuck him off they wrote about a submarine dive instead (Sub-Mission) pretty smart. Then we move onto 'Pretty Vacant' a song about social pretenses and it was the song that took them to the top of the NME charts it was said to be have been inspired by ABBA's song S.O.S. and it is a really cool song. 'New York' is the next track and is aimed squarely at the posers in particular the New York Dolls, who talked the talk but didn't walk the walk - ie drug fucked idiots who try so hard to be cool, it is really a dissing song, like rappers do nowadays, (yet they were doing it in 1977!). The last song is 'EMI' and is hate filled spew at their record company who dumped them after all the controversy over 'God Save The Queen' a real thrashy, punk rock song and an excellent way to end a classic album. I am giving this 6 shots of whiskey out of 5 and believe that this album belongs in your collection, because the musical freedom that we enjoy today was because bands like the Sex Pistols decided that they can make music anyway they fucking liked and if people wanted to buy it they can. It is raw, primal and punk rock at it's absolute best - get it you will not be disappointed. Go out and get it fuck ya! Until next week peace out my bitches!
